Associated Press Managing Editors Association records, 1935-2005.

Records of the Associated Press Managing Editors (APME) Association, an advisory organization (1931- ) aimed at facilitating good working relationships between the officers of the Associated Press (AP) and the managing editors of its member papers. Included are correspondence, printed committee and study group reports, financial records, newsletters, working papers, speeches and addresses, photographs and audio recordings documenting the activities of the organization. There are also files pertaining to individual AP managing editors and officers of the APME; major files include those of Don Earl Carter, Ernest Cutts, Victor Hackler, Wendell C. Phillippi, David N. Schutz, Harry L. Sonneborn, Gilbert P. Smith, and Mason Walsh.
